MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron Family Time

This shop has been compensated by Collective Bias, Inc. and its advertiser. All opinions are mine alone. #AvengersUnite #CollectiveBias I am Black Widow. Fine...I am a normal mom who is trying to deal with life's obstacles as a super hero. Hunter has been sick since he was about 4 months old. I think going through health problems as a family really helps put things into perspective. Quality family time is the most important thing in our home! Since Hunter started having procedures as a baby, we started letting him wear costumes to help make bad days better. I know it doesn't take away the pain or fear. However, role playing helps make those moments seem less scary. Lately we have been having a difficult time with Hunter's health again so we are counting down the days until MARVEL's The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Role playing also helps us build up anticipation for upcoming events like the May 1st release of MARVEL's The Avengers: Age of Ultron instead of thinking about more biopsies … [Read more...]

Branson Trip {Day 1}: Showboat Branson Belle

Please note: this is a post sponsored by Explore Branson with my honest opinions. Explore Branson selected several bloggers to avoid a fun-filled 4 days in Branson. Lucky for my family we were selected. Branson, MO is a place that holds many great memories for me as a child. I love enjoyed having the opportunity to do all that again (along with some new things for me as well) with my boys was a great experience! Let's get started on Day 1 of the Branson Trip... Honestly, I never would have considered a family outing on a dinner cruise. Once I looked into Showboat Branson Belle when dealing with food restrictions, I found out that with proper notice they could accomodate us! Along with Celiac Disease, I have a severe chicken and shellfish allergy. Below see some of what we ate... Please note that not everything above is gluten free. I was able to eat a Prime rib, snap peas, and baked potato (pictured top left) as well as a fruit plate for dessert. It was all so … [Read more...]

10 Things about Me #SoFabCon14

I am getting ready to leave for SoFabCon. We have been challenged to create a "10 Things About Me" post. So here it is... This is me Here it is... 1. I have moved 7 times in the past 8 years  John works at Enterprise Holdings (Enterprise, National, & Alamo). We have to be willing to relocate for him to move up in the company. We have moved all over the midwest. I love the adventure of learning about new places. 2. Small town girl living in the City I grew up in a town of 4200 people called Baxter Springs, KS. When I was attending Pittsburg State University (30 minutes from my hometown), I met my husband John. We relocated to Little Rock, AR last December. Sadly my hometown was devastated by the April 27, 2014 tornadoes.   3. I have 3 sons  My boys are my life! Dylan is 9, Hunter is 6, and Elliott is 4. They are all so different from each other and I love that! Anyone that thinks a household of boys is drama free they haven't met mine. My oldest … [Read more...]

Hallmark Cards for all of our Valentines #ValentineCards #CollectiveBias #shop

I LOVE making Hallmark a part of our traditions from our yearly hallmark ornament to recordable books to cards for every occasion. My parents always gave us Hallmark cards for Valentine's day and I do it for my boys. As parents, I think it's important to show our kids how special we think they are every chance we get. The fact that Hallmark cards are found at many retailers including Walmart where I bought these cards makes finding the right Hallmark Card convenient! Even though we should be use to moving every few years, I think it gets harder for us as we move further from family. We all make a point to exchange cards and packages all year! I love the variety of cards that Hallmark offers from fun to sentimental for every budget! I got this one for my mom...   Elliott really liked all the cat ones! I think it's important to teach our kids the value of kind words and gestures. My kids get just as excited about giving and receiving cards as they do presents. Elliott is an avid … [Read more...]

Random Acts of Udi’s Giveaway #shop

 Udi's Gluten Free is one of our favorite gluten free brands. As most of my readers know, I am more of a homemade cooking mom. However, we all need a back up plan for last minute surprises or failures in the kitchen. When Udi's asked me to participate in Random Acts of Udi's, I could not turn down the opportunity to keep showing others how great they are! Since we recently moved, I honestly don't know any others who are gluten free in the area. I used my Udi's box to show others who are not gluten free just how wonderful gluten free can be! Udi's is one of the easiest to find gluten free brands. I can even find it at the Walmart closest to us in our small town!  We have been fans of the chocolate chip, snickerdoodle, and brownies for a while. The new dessert flavors are so enticing with the new flavors. I love treats that we might not make for ourselves. Our first Random Acts of Udi's was with my in-laws. Mimi always makes the boys cookies. We were able to exchange the favor with … [Read more...]

Laugh along with my own “ – like” experiences #Motherfunny #cbias #shop

Hi! I am the mom of 3 boys. Once upon a time, I was a person who took myself too seriously.  Then I had kids. Now we may dig in the dirt for worms until my kids look like Pig Pen from Charlie Brown, but at least they care about being eco-friendly right? I wait patiently while Elliott finds his "Foot Cups"  each morning (you might know them as shoes). Have you heard of NickMom? It relates to the comedy that is our lives. Lucky for us moms it comes on Nick at 10 pm when the kids are definitely asleep.  Of course, if you need a bit of entertainment during one of your long days of lounging as a mother...wait that is what you do with your days too? Then check out anytime! If you haven't already learned the art of enjoying the comic routine that is your life....NOW IS THE TIME! Below is one of last year's family pictures. We had several that turned out great. The photographer asked us if we wanted a picture of just the 2 of us, and we did. I am usually the one behind the … [Read more...]

KLUTCHclub: Monthly Subscription for health, wellness, & Fitness {Gluten Free too}

Subscription services are turning up from everything to eco-friendly to wellness. The appeal is getting to try new products, but I have signed up for a few that I was really disappointed in just about everything in the box. When I heard about KLUTCHclub I was really intrigued! KLUTCHclub is a health and wellness subscription box company.The biggest problem with subscription services is that with food restrictions or allergies you can't always have the option of getting a completely gluten free box. Why is it so hard to be real? #ThisIsMe

This past week I was in Arkansas for a conference with my online family Collective Bias. I couldn't wait! All I could think about was all the things I would learn to help make me a better blogger as well as networking. However, I was surprised by how inspired I was several times with some of the touching keynotes. I couldn't imagine getting up there and telling a room of 300+ people the truth. I guess you could say that I felt the need to only talk about ways to make gluten free and healthy living easier. If I had been doing this for 5+ years and still have bad days, then why would anyone want to listen to me. I felt like a fraud sometimes putting on the facade. When I started Great Contradictions over 2 years ago, I started to tell my story (and Hunter's story) about how we became gluten free. I started and I never completed it. Telling the story was just too much. The courage that these women have has inspired me that I need to get it out there. I am just going to start at the … [Read more...]

@Oasap Vintage-inspired jewelry Fashion Review #shopping #beauty

When shopping online, one of the biggest drawbacks for me is paying shipping. Often the option is to spend $25 or $50+ for free shipping, but what if I only want an accessory? Hello Oasap! They offer free worldwide shipping on EVERY ORDER! If I just want to buy a jewelry, tights or anything else, I don't have to factor in the cost of shipping as well. ~Vintage Style Rose Pendant Necklace {$9.00}~ Vintage style necklace crafted in metal, featuring acrylic rose detail to the center of the engraved pendant set, a long chain with lobster closure. Reaction  I love the dainty appearance of the necklace without it being too delicate. As a mom of 3 boys,  I like to wear dainty feminine accessories. However, I need them to be durable as well. The Vintage style rose pendant can easily be worn casually or added to my evening outfits effortlessly with it's neutral cream color. The chain is also a great length and adjustable. The chain allows for versatility so I can adjust it to … [Read more...]
