YummyEarthHolidayGummies1

Holidays are not an exception to the healthy rule in our house. However, I don't think we have to miss out on the fun of holiday treats. As a gluten free and peanut free house, I am always looking for products that provide healthy and allergy friendly choices. Last Easter, I found out about YumEarth (To see the YumEarth Sour Beans Review click here) On to the Holiday Gummy Bears... YumEarth tastes much better than mass produced chemical candy because we choose real fruit extracts and planet friendly ingredients to sweeten our lives & yours. YumEarth. Good for us. Good for Mother Earth. "Santa" knows that we don't take a break for the holiday so he can provide Mom-approved stocking stuffers rather than the traditional candy options.  Reaction: With our middle son having Celiac Disease, I am a huge fan of individual packages since we have to provide him snack 5 days a week. Obviously, adding the convenience with the all natural factor, I am already pleased with the … [Read more...]

@YummyEarthCandy Naturals Sour Beans: Great for an allergy-friendly Easter! #momsparkmedia

Jelly Beans are a staple of Easter, but most contain chemicals & probability of gluten cross-contamination not too mentions a lot of ingredients I don't want to give my kids... {label from unnamed jelly bean package} Thanks to Yummy Earth living a healthy lifestyle doesn't necessarily mean we have to leave behind candy... Reaction I am such a kid at heart. I have always loved sour candies so I may be biased. These are some of the best jelly beans I have ever tasted! When it comes to running a household with food restrictions and auto-immune disorders, we have to be more conscious of what we eat not just for contamination reasons, but for the sake of building up our immune system.I am allergic to peanuts on top of being a Celiac so when dealing with candy it always seems like it either has a possibility of peanuts or gluten. Hooray for Yummy Earth for creating a healthier version of a well-loved Easter favorite that exceeds expectations of what a jelly bean should be! They … [Read more...]

@Smarties for an allergy-friendly Valentine’s Day: Love Hearts, Extreme Sour, & some for you …oh my!

tryme

4 years down the Gluten Free path and there is so much more for me to learn... Sending the boys to school was definitely one of the hardest decision I ever made.  Hunter has had pneumonia a few times thanks to gluten breaking down his immune system.  Before me, I had never really meant anyone dealing with food allergies or food restrictions at this level.  I find it funny how people talk about me like I am some SuperMom.  How do you do it? they say.  Like anyone else, I just do what needs to be done while trying to stay balanced between over-reacting & under-reacting. Friday afterschool, our oldest son walks to the car with this around his neck in celebration of 100th day of school, so what do I do? Fruit Loops are scary! He gets in the car. His younger brothers (both Celieacs) are mesmerized by the colorful necklace.  I take a deep breathe (while panicing in my mind).  Me: Dylan zip up your jacket, do not touch anything else, and do not give your brothers anything.  We get … [Read more...]

@smarties: Making Halloween less scary for those dealing with food restrictions #IamASmartie #cbias

Holidays are exhausting especially when dealing with food restrictions.  Label reading is just as important for Halloween. While many people have varying tolerances to their offending food(s), we have to avoid products containing gluten & any products that were processed in a facility with gluten.  Also, I have an allergy to peanuts, so I avoid it on my own. Below I have taken a few snapshots of popular candy to show the norm when it comes to candy packaging: may contain or contains allergens. Thankfully there are companies like Smarties that  provide a perfect candy for Halloween parties, school events and trick or treating being that they are gluten free, allergen free, vegan, individually wrapped and tamper evident.  Even if you don't have any food restrictions, I think it is important to consider having allergy friendly options for those who do.  The boys' school hands out smarties a lot usually with an "I am a smartie!" label.  My boys enjoy Smarties and it makes it … [Read more...]
