I am Black Widow. Fine…I am a normal mom who is trying to deal with life’s obstacles as a super hero. Hunter has been sick since he was about 4 months old. I think going through health problems as a family really helps put things into perspective. Quality family time is the most important thing in our home! Since Hunter started having procedures as a baby, we started letting him wear costumes to help make bad days better. I know it doesn’t take away the pain or fear. However, role playing helps make those moments seem less scary. Lately we have been having a difficult time with Hunter’s health again so we are counting down the days until MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron. Role playing also helps us build up anticipation for upcoming events like the May 1st release of MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron instead of thinking about more biopsies and needles.
What do you do to help kids cope with life’s obstacles?
Being a 7 year old dealing with an auto-immune disorder can’t be an easy thing. Being a mom trying to keep balance between everyone isn’t always these easiest either! I am constantly working to show my kids how everyone has “Super Powers” that make them special!
Some of the tricks I use to boost the mood around our house:
We live and breath super heroes in our house of boys. My boys don’t necessarily have a favorite Avengers character all the time. It really depends on the mood of their personality. Most of the time Iron Man is their favorite character though. I have even started them in kids engineering classes to help encourage them to be more like Iron Man. It’s Iron Man’s ability to create things that really gets the boys excited to create their own “inventions”. It’s about using their imagination and escaping into their own world! Role playing with costumes really helps bring that spirit out!
When the first Avengers came out, we bought them the trio of masks (pictured above my Hulk, Captain America, and Iron Man boys). They were excited to add MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron Toys to enhance our role playing! Walmart has quite a selection. Below see what they picked!
My boys had a really hard time picking what they wanted! There are so many new MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron toys to help them really get into the Super Hero spirit!
Walking through the stores we are reminded just how close the release of MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron is! Look for specially marked Doritos, Dr. Pepper, Kellogg’s Fruit Snacks and Cheez-It baked snack crackers to give the family even more MARVEL’s The Avengers: Age of Ultron excitement!
Don’t forget to Scan any 12 packs of Dr. Peppers Avengers (or scan the in-store signage) to unlock a digital comic book.
