Taking back the power & feeling safe again with Street Safe Mobile Security #cbias

Taking back the power & feeling safe again with Street Safe Mobile Security #cbias

Back in college, I was in an emotionally and physically abusive relationship. Even though I have moved on, forgetting the fear is not the easiest. After I got away from my attacker, the rebuilding started. I joined a Sexual Assault Response Team through the university and started volunteering at the local domestic violence office. I was determined to help where I could to help me get back to being the confident person I once was. No matter how much I have moved on there’s this part of me who just has trouble trusting people. I have a hard time feeling completely safe around strangers when I have seen first hand what someone who supposedly loved me was capable of.

How do I raise my kids to feel safe without passing on my insecurities?

  • Unlimited access 24 hours a day, 7 days a week, 365 days a year
  • Affordable monthly subscription plan –  Monthly rates are $19.99 per month and you can save $7.49 a month by getting the yearly plan!
  • Walk With Me service with a live, professionally trained Safety Advisor to talk you through uncomfortable situations and escort you as you walk alone or with others. This is a great feature! There are times when you need someone, but can’t actually notify the police until something really happens.
  • Instant silent alarm notification to emergency services with GPS information and personal profile You can also name an emergency contact so if you trigger the silent alarm that person will be notified as well.

A recent survey reveals nearly 4 in 10 Americans, say they would be afraid to walk alone at night within a mile of their home. Nearly half of all Americans say there is more crime in their local area than a year ago. (courtesy of StreetSafe)
While we were out walking, I tested to see how the Walk With Me experience worked…

The responder called me back in less than a minute. They were calm and verified my location. GPS did not pick up my exact location, but was close.

Every few years we relocate due to my husband’s work, we often have only a short window to find a place to live. While our neighborhood is not the worst, we share our backyard with a local park. The “hop the creek” feature was an appeal, because I could stay within the comfort of our block to keep my kids active.  However, I am now seeing it as a safety issue with our car being broken into 3 times now. My husband now travels a lot for work, which means I am on my own with the 3 boys.
Just about everyone carries a cell phone these days. I don’t even walk in the yard, down the street, take the trash out, run errands, exercise, etc… without my cell phone. The advantage to Street Safe over calling 911 is that it saves precious minutes. In the midst of an attack or uncomfortable situations, minutes can make a difference.
As the boys get older, I would love to get them Street Safe accounts too (once they turn 13). Girls are not the only people targeted and you never know what situation they could get into. Street Safe gives me the power to feel more secure and let me live a normal life with the fear of the unknown. Street Safe is not just for moms, but this is a great service for the elderly and students. When my husband works in a more urban area, we agreed this service would be great for him. I am a bit of a worrier so him having Street Safe would ease my mind knowing he’s safe.

I am definitely one of those who will not go out after dark and try to get home before dark. It is just not safe around here anymore. This sounds like a great tool to carry with me–

Street Safe sounds like a wonderful option. I will have to check into it for my 16 year old. We live in a really small town and I think sometimes we get that false sense of safeness. You can never be to careful these days.

This is definitely something I would use, specially after being followed around my neighborhood once (it was quite scary).

I have lived in a few areas where I think Street Safe mobile apps would have really helped me feel more secure and better about living there. There really are some scary situations. It looks like a great app that can really come in handy and save precious minutes over trying to dial 911 after an event is already in place.

Oh wow, I love the silent alarm feature. There have been a few times during my travels that I would have really appreciated having someone talk me through uncomfortable situations. Thanks for sharing this great app!

It’s important to feel safe and I’m sure harder for you after what you have experienced. If you could prevent that for your loved ones that puts you back in control. This app must ease your mind, especially on days you are alone with your boys!

Wow what a great program. This would be something I would get for sure if my daughter was in college. I hate the idea of all those girls walking at night on campus. When she is older I would for sure get her this program just for my peace of mind.

What ever it takes to make you feel safe is worth it.
