I am a Midwestern girl. I grew up around hunting, fishing, etc… Those Outdoor Family Activities are what helped bond our family. As the one year anniversary of my stepdad’s death has arrived, I hate that he’s not going to be around to teach the boys to shoot & fish. I feel that it’s my job to carry on those family traditions with or without him. This was my first trip to Bass Pro since he died. I didn’t realize how nostalgic I was about this place, but it was like a flood of memories as I stepped through the doors. Off to Christmas shop…

Over the years, we have had many holiday memories and one of them is watching A Christmas Story on Christmas day! TBS usually had a 24 hour marathon so one way or another we watched it!
A Christmas Story movie is one of those iconic movies that has transcended through the years. Maybe you don’t remember how funny the movie is, but you definitely remember that Ralphie wanted a Daisy Red Ryder BB gun for Christmas! Of course, how can you forget the classic line repeated through out the movie “You’ll Shoot Your Eye Out!”
As the kids in our life get older, holiday gifting gets tricky. We don’t want to give the kids a gift that’s either to babyish.
or too mature.
Our 8 year old Dylan REALLY wants a Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun. However, as you can see below, he’s just not quite ready. He reminds me he only has 2 years to wait. I do admire his patience. What I do know is that Daisy is a brand that we trust! It’s a brand I have grown up around from Daisy Red Ryder BB guns to targets. We plan to continue encouraging Outdoor Family Activities such as BB Guns so we are getting a Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun for our nephew.
Now keep in mind that just as important as the right of passage to owning your very own Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun it is just as important to teach kids about gun safety.
Ten Shooting Safety Rules
Airguns are real guns, not toys. You or others can be killed or seriously injured if these rules are not followed.
- Always keep the muzzle pointed in a safe direction.
- Treat every gun as if it were loaded.
- Only load or cock a gun when you are shooting.
- Check your target and beyond your target.
- Anyone shooting or near a shooter should wear shooting glasses.
- Never climb or jump with a gun.
- Never shoot at a flat hard surface or at the surface of water. Ammunition can ricochet off of water just like a skipped rock.
- Keep the muzzle clear.
- Guns not in use should always be unloaded.
- Respect other people’s property.
Not too mention Daisy’s Safety Shooting Quiz is a great way to make sure you (or your child) is ready to safely shoot the Daisy Red Ryder BB Gun.
