Kindness is a re-occuring theme I want to instill in my three boys. We are always trying to find a new way to give back whether it be to spend time cleaning up a local park or donating to those less fortunate. Recently my family had the wonderful experience of participating in Champions for Kids Simple Service Project by providing people in need with school supplies. To see more about Champions for Kids and our Elmer's Bag It Forward Shop click here Looking around sadly it isn't that hard to find others who need our help so deciding isn't the easiest task. We try on a regular basis to provide needed supplies to our schools. During a recent twitter party, Champions for Kids brought to my attention that But there's always more you can do so find a cause that inspires you to do more whether it's with a local family, a church, homeless shelter, school, or in our cause the local Domestic Violence Intervention Services, Inc. and find a way to help! Back to School shopping means new clothes for everyone! When looking for kids clothes, I try to seek out quality items that are durable, comfortable, & represent each of my kids' styles. Polyvore is an awesome way to keep track of items you like and even for pairing outfits. The collage above shows some Cookies Kids items similar to what the boys like to wear. By the way, all the items above are less than $20! Have you heard of CookiesKids.com? Cookies Kids offers the latest kids fashion at great prices! In 1972, a young man named Cookie and his brother Marvin went into business together. They rented a 1600 square foot store in Jamaica, Queens, fixed it up, bought inventory and Summer and Fall, and opened a day after Thanksgiving with a full stock of holiday toys. The toys were a success and they put the extra money toward buying children's clothing for the next season. When that did well, they bought more clothing. The business was on it's way. As the brothers Cookie, … [Read more...]

Who Needs Your Help? School Supplies shopping for those in need #bagitforward #Champions4Kids

Back to school costs seem to be getting bigger & bigger as the years go by. All those things can really add up. I tend to think about those in need at Christmas time during the season of giving, but there are other times of the year where I sometimes forget that someone could really use our generosity. My mom has always tried to keep me grounded even at those weakest moments reminding me that "someone always has it worse." At times it might be hard to not dwell on our own issues, but doesn't it feel good to help someone who needs it more?  I have casually glanced at the Champions for Kids Simple Service display box many times and checked out the website. About Champions for Kids Our vision is to change the culture. Ultimate success is when there is a transfer of identity from Champions for Kids as an organization to Champions for Kids as part of our collective identity, who we are as a community and as citizens. Each year millions of children suffer silently and in many … [Read more...]

Feminine elegance with @Oasap’s peasant-style pleated dress #fashion #beauty

Oasapbluepleateddress3

While my style has versatility to it, I don't stray too far from the Bohemian look. It is comfortable and has a flow about it. Such as this dress... What drew me to the peasant-style pleated dress below is it combines my favorite style with a twist. It's part bohemian part classic yet together makes for a wonderfully classic bohemian look. The dress crafted in chiffon, featuring sleeveless design, round neckline with flouncing panel detail, medium elasticated waistline, and long pleated design. The bottom of the dress is my favorite part. It's pleated chiffon with an underlay of satin that is shorter than the chiffon. It adds a nice dimension without being too bare for casual daytime events. It is comfortable and flattering. To create look:  Oasap blue peasant-style  pleated dress $39.00 Rose Pendant $9.oo Oasap.com is priced for any budget (always free shipping too!) and often runs great promotions. Do your part to help Preserve America’s Heritage! #SaveAmericasMustangs #CBias

savethemustanghunter

Our culture loves to gossip about drama going on with celebrities, politicians, current event, etc... Seriously!?! Millions are spent on negative political media advertising! We should spend that much energy educating about ways to help mold a positive society i.e. donating that energy to worthy causes, etc... Can you only imagine if all that negative energy was focused on creating a positive image with positive actions? I find it annoying no matter which side you belong on that our society spends so much time on the negativity! {end rant} Recently, I did a post about a worthwhile cause called Saving America's Mustangs (see post here). About Saving America’s Mustangs: Wild horses are a living symbol of our American heritage and freedom. These Mustangs must be protected. Businesswoman and philanthropist, Madeleine Pickens, is committed to this promise. Through her Foundation, citizens from all walks of life are uniting to create a permanent home, a Sanctuary, to save these … [Read more...]
