Spooktacular date night: Celebrate Halloween w/ Scream 4 from @redbox (recipe & ideas included) #CouchCritics #cbias

It’s Halloween & you finally have your little ghosts & goblins to sleep. Back in college, we might have went to a costume party, but no one to watch the kids.  Now what?  Date Night at home!

Step#1: Grocery Shopping: Wal-Mart is a great one-stop shop!

While shopping for supplies for date night, I stumbled upon something of use in the popcorn
section…Who doesn’t love a deal? While looking for snacks, I found out if I went for the Smart Pop! over the movie theater butter popcorn that I could get 2 free redbox movies.  While it is not stated anywhere, please note that the popcorn codes are only for use at Wal-Mart Redbox Kiosks.

Step#2: Setting the mood:
This differs for everyone, but we went with some elegant yet disposable dishes.  Yes, disposable! Clean up after a long day isn’t exactly a priority on my to-do list.  Also, we added some led candles for moodlighting.  For example, check out your local Wal-Mart’s party supply or seasonal section for some ideas.

Step#3: Planning the Menu: Our go-to date night usually revolves around filet mignon.  Delicious & more enjoyable when made at home without a restaurant price tag attached.  We also included simple sides like asparagus & rice.  For snacks, I made my  infamous spinach dip & festive popcorn.  Both recipes are easy and a few added touches can make them special like Mission’s halloween chips & M&M’s Candy Corn White Chocolate candies in the popcorn!

Step #4: Renting a movie from Redbox: This is by far the easiest on the list!  Thanks to the convenience of Redbox locations we were able to rent a movie while shopping at Wal-Mart for free with the popcorn box Redbox promo codes.

Step #5: Enjoy dinner & a movie!

Dinner: Filet Mignon

Movie: Scream 4

Reaction:  We grew up watching Scream 1-3, so we were excited to see the newest one.  Scream 4 had a good twist on the original plot.   I was thinking it might be a bit predictable, but that wasn’t the case.  I didn’t get as scared as I had for the others that came out when I was a teenager, but I still enjoyed the suspense.

So….what did we think?

Date night at home can be a lot of fun even on a tight budget!  Between Redbox & Wal-Mart date night can be glamourous yet in the relaxing comfort of your home.  Who cares if you arent leaving your home? It is halloween after all, so dress up in your usual “date night” clothes and pretend.  Of course, the best part about date night at home is you get to make up the rules!

  1. We SO need a date night! What a perfect excuse to snuggle on the couch in fear!

  2. The spinach dip looks A-MAZ-ING! And I liked to be scared to “can’t breath” so I hate to hear you weren’t! UGH! OK, so I’ll probably rent it anyway. Maybe you’re braver than I am!
