Between me and you "Honey" keepsake journal Review & Giveaway

honey1

Between you and me... "A great feature of the Between Me and You™ series thanks to the spiral-bound presentation is that you can simply tear out the pages that might not be relevant to your particular needs. You can even add your own personal questions or even photos on the blank pages that are provided in back. Give one to be filled out and returned by someone special. Or fill one out for that very special person in your life. They're also perfect for parents who'd like to record their own memories to hand down to their children. The result is a unique, handwritten journal that will be cherished for a lifetime. Several additional versions relevant to our many relationships are planned and will be released in the near future." Between Me and You Keepsake Journals are a fairly new line containing 15 different themes; however, in honor of Valentine's Day I am going to focus on the Honey journal. These keepsake journals are a great way to renew that bond between you and a loved one … [Read more...]

Greetings from Gluten Free Island

new

Yesterday it was in the 70s here in Gluten Free Island, but later in the evening there were dark clouds... I know a little melodramatic, but sometimes I just feel like Gluten Free living can suprise me at people's lack of empathy.  I spent last week arranging a birthday party for my son.  I contacted a ton of places, but there was one in particular who I sent about 20 emails to that refused to quote me for no pizza/cupcakes and said no outside food even though they are unable to provide a Gluten Free option.  How can they be so insensitive?  Then, yesterday I get a last minute call about my grandma's 91st birthday party.  I am told that if we don't mind contaminating ourselves we can come!?!  I think that was a combination between a guilt trip and miscommunication, but that is my family.  The only way I can keep us well is if I do the meal planning, shopping, cooking, and cleaning all to be part of a "family"  just to later feel isolated from that "family.  I miss those little … [Read more...]

Need lipbalm? Eco Lips Review & Giveaway

new

Gluten free beauty products or not?  Even if you don't need to be gluten free, but your child/spouse/etc does, you could be contaminating them with your lip balm.  However, many companies who once claimed gluten free are no longer claiming gluten free anymore.  That is why I was so happy to find Eco Lips they proudly announce all of their lipbalms are gluten free.  My favorite part about Eco Lips is their variety:  from kids lipbalms to tinted they have a kind for you. Their Story In the early 1990s, Andrea Danielson began brewing small batches of natural lip balm in her kitchen for her friends and family. She took great care in handcrafting the balm and packaging it in small amber glass jars to preserve the freshness of the pure ingredients. Andrea didn’t realize that by giving a sample of her natural lip creation to Steve Shriver, her life would be changed forever. Having larger than average lips, Steve was continually searching for a better lip balm. When Steve met Andrea … [Read more...]

Life can get crazy; however, I have really found comfort in the support that is found within the blogging community.  I am starting "Manic Monday Mixer", so I can expand the horizon.  I find it fascinating how in a world of so many blogs each story is completely one-of-a-kind.  To celebrate the unique nature of blogging, I am doing this a bit different.  I am the host and the 2 guest hosts will be the first 2 people to sign up below me in spots 2 & 3 of the linky!  If you are one of the lucky guest hosts, send me a message with a little information about you, your blog, etc... Fruity pebble Tie-Dye Muffins

tie-dye muffins

Apparently, Fruity Pebbles are now gluten free.  If you already knew this, forgive my lateness; however, it makes me wonder what kind of advertising they have been doing when some gluten free households are unaware.  We don't walk down the cereal aisles or any other aisle that will make the boys feel like they are missing out.  Seriously, with all the cartoon characters and fun boxes, what kid wouldn't feel like they are missing out?  While I was so excited to have a new breakfast option like Fruity Pebbles, I wanted to come up with some fun, healthier ways to introduce it. Tie-Dye Muffins Ingredients: 1.5 c. all-purpose gluten free flour (interchangeable with regular flour) 1 TBSP baking powder 1/2 tsp. salt 1/8 c. - 1/2 c. sweetenener* (I used agave, but granulated sugar will work as well) 2 c. fruity pebbles + extra for topping 1 1/4 c. milk 1 egg 4 oz. applesauce Directions: 1.  Preheat oven to 400 degrees. 2.  Combine flour, baking powder, salt; set aside. 3.  In a … [Read more...]

Stepping Stones Together (update)

new

At the beginning of each week, we review the previous books, play the included games to refresh what they have learned, and then choose our new books for the following week.  Sunday is our "Lazy Day".  Stepping Stones fits perfectly into our routine since I have incorporated a "no tech rule" after breakfast.  Sundays are a great day to introduce new books since no one is in a hurry.  Today after we make our selections, we will then color them together as a family.  Hope everyone has a great "Lazy Sunday"! Published with Blogger-droid v1.6.5 … [Read more...]

This Is Your Brain in Love by Dr. Earl Henslin *book review*

Lovebook1

"Believe me most people are not failing to get victory over their unwanted behavior because they aren't trying hard enough to change" is a hard concept for many to understand.  This is a key point of why this book is helpful.  Our brain is responsible for the way we are.  This book explains 5 brain imbalances that affect our ability to have healthy relationships (some we are born with and some develop from the result of a traumatic experience).  This book includes well-researched information to help you build a stronger relationship complete with quizzes, tips for overcoming the different types, and ways to interact with each type. With the divorce rate so high,  resources such as this book are very encouraging to achieving and maintaining a healthy relationship.  The Secrets to Lasting love was my favorite part.  Also, I truly enjoyed the logical approach of this book.  To me, what makes this book different is their ability to combine scientific research in a way that is relevant … [Read more...]

Keeping the passion alive…EdenFantasys Review

Sex_Toys_LOV002

Same old story: couple just can't seem to make time for each other. Marriage requires a bit of work to nurture and encourage it's survival. My husband & I try to spend time together once the boys are asleep. The problem is that it is not always easy to switch gears from mommy mode to lover with the drop of a hat. Adult time often turns into laundry time, absently watching a movie, etc... With three kids, we just don't make time for each other.  The key point that I learned during our pre-marital counseling....Your relationship should come before all other relationships! EdenFantasys is a great website to help you keep the passion alive with anything from lingerie to toys.  I will admit I have never been a fan of walking into Adult stores; for these reasons:  I find it embarrassing, scary clientele that seems to be more obsessed with me than their surroundings, and i hate the idea I could run into someone I know.  EdenFantasys offers a solution to explore within the comfort of … [Read more...]
